Since we did not publish an August Faith and Victory, as is customary, it has been two months since the last issue, which seems like a long time.
Much has transpired in the meantime. Summer camp meetings have come and gone, and for all the good which was accomplished, we thank God. One of the highlights of the National Camp Meeting at Monark Springs, MO, was the visit of Bro. John Varghese from India. He brought several messages which heartened the saints to reach out to others with the gospel.
Another monumental accomplishment since the last issue of the Faith and Victory has been the moving of printing presses and other large equipment from the old shop to the new. We consider it a blessing that the move went as smoothly as it did and that we are now up and running in the new facility.
I would like to reiterate that we feel greatly indebted to God and the saints for the provision of the new building. It will greatly enhance the ease and quality of printing gospel literature.
Our daughter, Patina, is planning to be married to Lindell Campbell on Sept. 10. Mary and I will miss the enjoyment which Patina has brought to our home. We are glad, however, for the happiness she and Lindell have found in each other and in their plans to establish a home of their own in Springfield, MO. We pray God's blessings upon them as they begin their lives together.
We will also miss Patina's work here at the Print Shop. This will leave an opening which necessitates acquiring another worker. The position would include working in the darkroom, computer word processing and page-up, as well as proofreading and perhaps other duties.
We are looking for a person with a genuine burden to work for God, and someone physically capable of the duties of darkroom work, which involve a good deal of bending and stepping.
Our workers do not make large salaries, but God has always provided for their needs, including housing and utilities. Please let us hear from you if you feel a God-given interest in this position.
We are still receiving forwarded mail from our old location. Please make sure that all of your correspondence is addressed to either
P. O. Box 518, or 4318 S. Division, Guthrie, OK 73044.
For several days during August, there was a problem with our internet server and we were unable to receive orders submitted through our web site. If you placed an internet order during August and have not received it, please contact us at 1-800-767-1479.
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." Psalm 33:12. This observation by David came through his knowledge of history and experience. He knew the prosperity which existed when Israel served God.
Former President Calvin Coolidge once said, "The strength of a country is the strength of its religious convictions." Much of the comfort we enjoy in our lives today results from the faith in God which the founders of our country exhibited.
Roger Babson, the famous financier and statistician, tells of a visit he made some years ago to the president of the Argentine republic. He says, "One day we sat in his sun parlor overlooking the river. Suddenly he turned to me and said, 'Mr. Babson, I have been wondering why it is that South America, with all its great natural advantages, is so far behind North America, notwithstanding that South America was settled first?'
"Then he went on to tell how the forests of South America have 286 varieties of trees that can be found in no book of botany, because no one has classified them.
"He told me about many ranches that had thousands of acres of alfalfa...he mentioned the mines of iron, coal, copper, silver and gold, and all those great rivers with water power rivaling our Niagara.
"'Why is it, with all these natural resources, South America is so far behind?' he repeated.
"Those of you who have been there know the reason, but being a guest, I asked, 'Mr. President, what do you think is the reason?' He replied thoughtfully, 'I have come to this conclusion: South America was settled by the Spanish who came in search of gold, but North America was settled by the Pilgrim Fathers who went there primarily in search of God.'"
May we never forget the foundation upon which our prosperity is basedãmay we never kick down the ladder by which we climbed up. We are living in an era when certain factions of our society are doing what they can to dilute our religious heritage. If America is to continue to be prosperous we must resist that trend. We must not allow the cataracts of infidelity to dim our vision so slowly that we are not aware of our change in discernment. God must be kept alive in our nation's conscience, and invited to thrive!
