God's Ways in Our Hearts
-
"Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah. Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God." Psalm 84:4-7. This text I have pondered over through the years, but just recently I believe the Lord has given precious light and inspiration as to its wonderful meaning.

What does God want me to do today?
-
I was recently asked, "What does a normal Christian do with this life?" Although it may sound trivial on the surface, it is truly an important question. The person in question was puzzled and discouraged.

The Latest Improved
C.E. Orr
Adam and Eve had this self-life in the purity of their creation; they had organs of sense. It was to these that Satan made his appeals; to the feelings in their self-life, not to the feelings in the divine life of their soul. The will of sense‹for such it might be called‹overpowered that higher will of the soul, and they yielded to the will of sense as aroused by temptation. We who are pure in heart have this same will of sense. It is this will of sense that must be "kept under," or in control to the will of God. "Not my will [that is, that lower will of my self-life]," said Jesus, "but thy will, be done." I will make this plainer as we go on. I feel like making it as plain and simple as I can, even if doing so does require time, because here lies the secret of success in the Christian life. Those who look upon the instructions herein as trifling will do so to their own spiritual injury.

Purity Of The Mind
Many people seem to have difficulty in keeping their thoughts pure and their minds free from things they know are not according to the life of a Christian. If we closely follow the Word of God on this, as well as on other lines, we will have no trouble whatever. We are told to "gird up the loins of our mind." We can have the master over them if we just will. It depends much on what we permit our minds to feed and dwell upon. We will always have pure, holy and good thoughts and our mind will be pure and stayed on God and heavenly things if we obey the injunction in Phil. 4:8, "Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Why allow our minds to dwell on impure or unholy things when there are so many good things of which to think?

A Special Service
In Philadelphia, in 1875, evangelist Dwight L. Moody observed the closing of the old year with a special service. At this service, he and a respected Bible scholar, William S. Plumer, were seated on a platform before an audience. The scene was described thus by friend Henry Clay Trumball:
