Profession and Possession
About 99% of the so-called Christians are mere professors, while perhaps the other per cent are real possessors. The professor is spoken of in the Bible; and though you have a form of godliness and seem to be religious, it will profit you nothing. Luke 8:18 says, "From him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have." and then professor, you will find yourself standing 'naked' in the sight of God, who demands you to have on the linen garment, pure and white, without spot or wrinkle, etc. "ere you can enter in." Professor, you know you are practicing hypocrisy: you go to church on Sunday and are good and pious‹then on Monday you will cheat your neighbor and use words that would not be becoming for the devil himself. Or perhaps you say, "No, no I never use a curse word or take the Lord's name in vain, or do anything out-of-the way," yet Jesus says unto you, "Ye must be born again;" "Or ye shall all likewise perish." There will be as many good moral men, as they term themselves, in hell as any other class. Why‹not because they have committed crimes; no, but because they haven't believed God to the saving of the soul‹lacked the "new birth." Do you say, "Why of course I believe Jesus is the Son of God: I haven't a doubt as to that? Listen, poor deceived soul "The devils a1so believe and tremble." (James 2:19). There are two ways to believe. If you really believe as God intends, you will turn from your sins and be saved. Then, when you are really saved, born of the Spirit, you will be through with sin, and be a new creature in Christ Jesus. You won't have to wonder if you are saved, but will really know it. Praise His name! And instead of doubt, you will be filled with the glory of God and have a new song in your heart. The picture show, ballroom, swimming pool, etc. will have lost their charms for you, and you will look different, dress differently, and really be different. Praise the Lord forever! And though the whole world turn its back upon you and folks call you crazy, you will be happy in Jesus and can say, "Amen" to all the will of God‹a real possessor, heir to all heaven and ~oint heir with Jesus, thank God‹a hell shunned, a heaven gained for all eternity.
