Sliding Into Hell

The saddest thing in all of the world is the fact that thousands of folks are dying yearly that don't know a thing about the hereafter, and have taken no thought as to what comes when we leave this place of abode. Saan doesn't want folks to become alarmed about these things, and he is well pleased if we just glide along and take no thought of the more vital things in life. He wants you to put off salvation just as long as you will. When you put off salvation, do you realize this pleases the old devil? When you stay away from the services at the church where God's people gather, this pleases Satan. He doesn't want you to hear God's word, lest you believe and be saved. Luke 8:12; 2 Cor. 4:4. Satan wants you to sleep late on Sunday morning, so you won't have to go to the servlces. He wants you to be up late the night before. He wants your job to keep you from being present; that is, to serve as an excuse. Did you know that the path to hell is paved with good intentions and greased wlth excuses and alibis? Satan wants you to put your soul's salvation off to take care of it at some later day. God says, "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." (2 Cor. 6:2). Your soul might be required today: the rich man's was. Read Luke 12:16-21. Satan wants you to believe there is no God, and yet he does (James 2:19). He wants you to say, "Well, I want to have a good time now, and I will take care of those things later." He wants you to curse, tell smutty stories, get drunk, throw wild parties and to do everything else the world does. This pleases Satan very much. He wants you to believe that the world is getting better and that it will continue to do so. He wants you to believe that it will be a long time until the end of time here on earth. Saan wants you to do the questionable things and to pass them off by saylng you don't see any harm in them. Satan does not mind if you are a church member, but he hates you if you are born again (John 3:3), and if you try to defeat his works by encouraging souls to be saved, and quit being duped by such a snake as he is. Satan wants church members to bring shows, plays, banqueting, revelling of all sorts into the church. He wants the preachers to talk on book reports, travels, great men of the world, but to say nothing about Jesus and His power to save lost souls, and to say nothing about sin and hell. Satan doesn't mind if the preachers try to get a few members to join the church, but he doesn't want souls to have their lives changed. Satan enjoys it when a person shakes hands with the preacher or signs a card whlch takes him Into the fellowship with the rest of the dupes that have no born-again experience. Satan doesn't mind so much if you do get saved, but have no power in your life whereby you may be an influence to bring others to Jesus. He doesn't want you to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire, as referred to in Matt. 3:11. He likes for folks to assume they have it, but don't know when they got it. Satan has his thousands deceived into thinking they have this mighty baptism which comes from God. Friend, you surely know it when you are baptized in water, and isn't it as logical that you would know at least that much about it when God baptlzes you? Did you ever ask for it? Luke 11:13. Did you ever tarry for it? The apostles did. Luke 24:49. It is for you. Acts 2:39. Don't let Satan deceive you into thinking you have this experience. Satan enjoys it when the preacher, who was made a preacher by some theological school, does the interpreting of the Bible and hands it out to the people as he sees it. Blind lead the blind. Matt. 15:14. Satan doesn't want the average layman to read the Blble and allow the Holy Spirlt to reveal the Scriptures to him. Many preachers will not preach all of the Bible. If you will read your own Bible, you will ffnd out. Read Matt. 4:4. Man is to live by every word, and not just part of it. Satan does not want you to read your Bible and search the scriptures as spoken of in John 5:39. He wants you to iust think you have eternal life. He doesn't want you to know whether you do or not. Dear reader, if you are traveling and you get out on the road some place and don't know where you are, you are lost. Lt you don't know whether you are saved or not, just admit that you are lost, because you are. You know (you don't just guess) that you are a human, and you know that you have hands, feet, etc.; so why should you not know whether or not you are saved? "Why stand we in jeopardy every hour?" 1 Cor. 15:30. Let us examine ourselves. Should Jesus come right now or should you be called to God now, would you be without spot and blameless and in peace as referred to In 2 Pet. 3:14? That is what it means to be saved; you should know about it. Remember It pleases the old devil when you don't know but are just assuming that all Is well. Some folks work very cheaply for the devil. What are you doing? Reader, if the Word of God can whittle you down and make you look and feel rather small, you should let it do it down here so that you can have a chance to get right with the Lord, because you won't have a chance hereafter. Now is the time (2 Cor. 6 :2; James 4 :4) . God's Spirit will not always strive with man. Gen. 6:3. Don't go on and get your heart so hardened that your doom will be sealed. You aren't too far gone to be saved. "Come now, and let us reason together saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." Isa. 1:18. Now doesn't this show the love of our God and Father ? God will remove your transgressions from you as far as the east is from the west, if you wlll let Him. Read Psa. 103:12. Now, if you want an idea as to what hell is like, light a match and hold your finger in the blaze until the match burns out. Thig is only a very small sample of what hell is like. Note the lake of fire and brimstone as referred to in Revelation 21:8. What will a match be In comparison to this? God does not want you to go to such a place as that, but it is the result of disobedience. The Lord is not slack concerning His promises. Read 2 Pet. 3:9. Now the devil comes along with this thought. If God is love, He wouldn't let anyone suffer anything such as hell is pictured. No, God won't but we are so headstrong as to have our own way in our lusts, we bring these things upon ourselves. Jas. 1:12-15. God doesn't bring them upon us. Do you still want to go on in your lax, carefree way and serve the devil? He is laughing at you now to think that he has you in his hands and to know that you are so pllable and willing to do an of these questionable and sinful things. Would Jesus do what you are doing? Ask yourself this question. The Lord will reveal His will to you if you really want to know it and to do it. If you do the will of the Lord, you won't be sliding into hell; but if you do not, that is where you are headed, and you will soon be there. "Him that cometh to Me, I will in no wise cast out." John 6:37. Why not come to Jesus now? He is coming soon for those that are prepared and are looking for Him. Heb. 9:28. -C. C. Brissey.
