History and Purpose
The World Organization of China Painters is a 501-C 3
non-profit group dedicated to the appreciation and
enrichment of the fine art of painting on porcelain. On
January 17, 1962, Pauline A. Salyer started a china painting
organization in the state of Oklahoma. In April 1967, she
founded the World Organization of China Painters. Her
background and love of china painting led her to share her
rich experiences with others by organizing china painting
clubs all over the world. The Organization continues to grow
and follow her dream to further the art of porcelain
painting.
The Organization purchased their Corporate Headquarters and
Museum property in 1984. It is governed by a Chairman of the
Board and a Board of Directors selected from its' world
membership. The Headquarters and Museum is managed by a
small staff under the guidelines of the Executive Board and
by-laws of the organization. The operation is aided by
volunteer members.
One of the many objectives of the Organization is to
preserve a collection of fine hand painted porcelain.
The collection serves to educate and deepen the
appreciation of this fine art for posterity. The WOCP Museum
has one of the finest collections of hand painted porcelain
in the United States. Included in this collection are pieces
which represent honors achieved in this art field, by
persons who have made and continue to make outstanding
contributions to porcelain art.
The Organization publishes a bimonthly magazine, "The China
Painter". It features educational material, colored photos
of hand painted porcelain by members and photos of state and
country porcelain exhibits on display in the Museum. The
magazine serves as a communication network for members
providing information about states, clubs, china shows and
conventions.

Membership Information
Membership in the WOCP is offered to all who wish to
further their knowledge in china painting, teachers who
continue to strive for perfection, persons who wish to learn
the art of china painting and connoisseurs of the arts. The
World Organization of China Painters is for like minded
artists grouping together at local, state and world levels
to share a common interest. Membership enriches lives
through old and new friendships. It is an opportunity for
personal expression through art. There are several types of
memberships that benefit all china painters, painting
teachers and china suppliers who are interested in the
progress of the art of porcelain painting.
The first is to belong to a state and local club. Starting a
new club is not difficult but exciting. Six members are
necessary to form a club and must be in accord with the
purpose of the Organization. If you are interested in
joining an existing club, or want to start a new club,
contact the WOCP Headquarters for additional information.
You receive six issues of "The China Painter" magazine with
your membership.
The second is becoming a worldwide member. A worldwide
member does not belong to a state or local club, but belongs
directly to WOCP and pays dues directly to the Headquarters.
Dues for worldwide membership are $34.00 for inside the U.S.
and $39.00 outside the U.S. You receive six issues of "The
China Painter" magazine.
The Dealer Organization is and entity or individual in
business related to the furtherance of the fine art of china
painting and the purposes of the Organization. Dues are
$29.00 for inside the U.S. and $34.00 outside the U.S. You

A WOCP Teacher is a person engaged in teaching the fine art
of china painting. To become a Teacher in the WOCP you must

State Room
Porcelain painted by members is on display in the State
Room. Members who attend state or country shows or
conventions vote on their choice of pieces displayed by the
members in their respective state or country. The winning
painted porcelain is sent to the Museum for display. The
pieces are admired by the many visitors and members who
visit the Museum. The displays remain until the following
state or country convention or show. Pieces are then shipped
back to their owners and everyone waits with excited
anticipation for the new arrivals. First Place winners are
encouraged to donate their pieces for permanent display.
This enables the Museum to build a permanent fine collection
of artists' work from around the world.
